This is a shorter version of a club-wide email which went out today from our new Chairman, Tommy Tonkins.

Dear all,

As hopefully most of you know by now the club has a new committee who were voted in last week at the club’s AGM. The new committee is as follows:

Tommy Tonkins (Chairman)
Celia Fraser (Secretary)
Dave Matthews
Lynn Stonehouse
Frances Coventry
Bethan Crouse (Junior Representative)
Ashleigh Malyan Maycock (Junior Representative)

First off, we’d like to say a huge thank you to Simon and the outgoing committee for all their hard work. In Simon’s time as Chair he oversaw the building of a new boathouse, the purchase of a new race gig, the purchase of two training gigs and many other developments which have strengthened our position as one of the leading gig clubs in the country. These are fantastic achievements and ones, as a club, we should all be proud off.

As your new committee we hope to carry all this hard work forward to ensure a sustainable and successful future for the club. And we will need your help to do it.

The club also has a new Facebook page which has kindly been set up by Bethan. You can find it here – please feel free to engage with it if you are a Facebook users, if you’re not, then don’t worry about it – there won’t be anything important on there that isn’t on the website!

It’s an exciting time for us and an exciting time for the club. Collectively we’re in a brilliant position to continue to drive the club forward as one that offers excellent facilities and support to members, competes at the highest level when it comes to racing and is tied together by a universal love of pulling on a wooden oar while getting blisters in the most unseemly places.

In the meantime, do please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

Very best wishes,

Tommy Tonkins
