The selection process for the World Championships is about to start!

Flushing & Mylor welcome all rowers (new and experienced) to come forward to take part in the selection process for race crews to compete at the next World Pilot Gig Championships. As ever, these will be held in the Isles of Scilly next May.

FMPGC has a great reputation for its

1. Open and transparent selection process

2. Encouragement of new rowers into the sport – socially or racing

3. Opportunities to race in fast, new gigs including our most recent boat – Zawn (launched 2014)

4. Results in recent years (Men’s and women’s A crews reaching the World Championships Open final and men’s Veterans crew 2nd overall in 2013 & 14)

Existing and new members who may be interested in hearing more about the FMPGC selection process for 2015 are invited to an informal get together on Thursday 25th September, 7:00pm to 8:30pm, at Flushing Sailing Club.  The bar will be open and there will be a chance to discuss any questions you might have.

Following this meeting, the deadline for submission of completed selection registration forms will be midday on Monday 6th October.

If you have raced for other clubs or never raced in a gig at all, then there’s plenty of time to get involved and build up to racing with us in the Isles of Scilly next year. The club is holding introductory coaching sessions on Sunday mornings and these start on September 28th. If you are interested in taking part but are not yet a member of our club, please email selection@  Please also use this email to let us know if you have any other questions or would like advice about submitting your application.

Sign up for the introductory coaching sessions on the club calendar. Other selection sign-up dates will be added in due course. And more information about the selection process can be found in the members-only area of the website under ‘Selection’.
