Visitor treated to row for 50th birthday

The non-racing men’s vets crew (with Madeleine coxing) treated a visitor to Flushing with a row in our gig a couple of weeks’ ago.

Fred Pennell contacted the club knowing that he was coming down to celebrate his 50th birthday. His father lives in Truro and volunteers at the Falmouth Maritime Museum. He and his wife Jane sent us the following message on their return home:

Jane and I absolutely loved the experience and our very steep learning curve. Our fellow crew were most patient, very tolerant and highly entertaining! We are back in Surrey now at the boarding school I teach at. Dare I say that we were much taken with Flushing and it’s community, so if we can come up with six numbers in next week’s lottery, then who knows!! I understand that we had a sixty-something crew member in our midst on the day so maybe we’ll be young enough in a few years to consider the club as part of our retirement plans. All the very best for the club, it’s members and continued success.
