At last, a weekend of warm sunshine and calm conditions provided a stunning backdrop to the men’s and U16’s event hosted by Newquay Rowing Club.
Danny Rundle : “On Sunday, Flushing & Mylor Under 16 Gig crew competed in the County U16 Championships. In the first round we were in the Gallant against some other strong crews. We had a brilliant row and had a hard battle with Helford B for the line. We were the victors and finished in 4th position, with this we made it through to the semi’s. In the semi’s we were once again drawn against some tough competition. We had another brilliant row with all of us putting in 110% effort. We had another battle for the line but this time we lost. We finished in 4th position in the semi’s. We missed the finals by only 17 seconds! We had a brilliant day and finished in 7th position overall. Congratulations to Helford A for winning the competition. This was our last ever race together because of our ages, so on behalf of the crew I would like to thank Andy Blake and Neil Rogers for being our outstanding coaches.”
Mens crews 30th and 74th, we had two mens crews taking part from around 85 in total. Well done to Mounts Bay A for winning the event with our close neighbours Falmouth A in a strong 2nd place and Caradon A 3rd in Pinnacle.
