Another fantastic weekend was had in Newquay!! Saturday saw fantastic warm weather but unfortunately Sunday was a bit more ‘Cornish’ and the rain fell!!
With the heats sorted the crews could not wait to get out onto the water but the tide’s were wrong meaning they all had to wait so they umpire boat could come free from the sand at the bottom of the harbour.
First from our club up were the fantastic Men A. With a mix of A and B crews in this race they had a good chance of winning and did coming first! Next was the mens B and C crew in the same race! Both crews did extremely well but unfortunately I cant remember the posisitioning’s!!
That was the first round over with so now onto the second! Going through was Mens A and B.
Both crews had fantatsic races both unfortunately only the the Mens A went through to the quarters on Sunday.
Sunday dawned and the rain was falling once more! But still we set up camp on the beach and watched the kids play and have fun in the rain! The Mens A prepared their boat and got onto the water. The guys had another fantastic race finishing fourth and went through to the semi’s on their time.
Their next race was the hardest!! With our Men up against some of the top Men from team’s such as Caradon, Roseland and Par. They had an impressive race but finished 6th.
Overall winners were Caradon 1st with Par 2nd and Falmouth A 3rd
F&MPGC Mens A – 10th
F&MPGC Mens B – 37th
F&MPGC Mens c – 60th
We all went back to the Seven Stars Flushing but there was still one more suprise to come!
As the awards were being presented there was a shield for “The most improved crew”, unknown to us it was to go to the Mens A! Luckily, Penny Chuter was still present, brought the shield back to Mylor and gave it to Alice, who brought it down to Flushing to suprise all the crew!
Well done to all three crews and i believe everyone had a fantastic weekend and once more we were the loudest club!!
